Western Health CEO Russell Harrison, Board Chair Robyn Batten and members of the Community Consultative Committee joined Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas and Sunbury MP Josh Bull at Sunbury Day Hospital on Monday to mark this important stage of the $675 million Community Hospitals Program.

The Sunbury Community Hospital will be an expansion of the Sunbury Day Hospital at 7 Macedon Street in Sunbury, with additional services provided alongside the existing day surgery, chemotherapy, and dialysis services.

The expansion is not only expected to enhance the hospital’s existing services but also provide patients with additional facilities including medical imaging and pathology services, a pharmacy and a separate reception and waiting area.

The selected designs ensure that patients, families and staff feel safe and comfortable throughout their visit. Special emphasis was given to clear signage and wayfinding. The design also includes use of natural materials and light, and protection of patient privacy.

With site preparation works kicking off to build a facility, the hospital is expected to be of huge benefit to the local community.

Community members, Western Health, and other key players played a pivotal role in shaping the appearance and atmosphere of the facility.

Scheduled to be finalised by 2023, the Sunbury Community Hospital is being constructed by The Victorian Health Building Authority and will be managed by Western Health.
