A new staff car park at the rear of Sunbury Day Hospital is now operational after the completion of early works for the community hospital project.

Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas and Member for Sunbury Josh Bull visited the Sunbury Day Hospital in September to view progress of the project and celebrate the appointment of a contractor to complete the main works.

Intrec Management is working closely with Western Health, the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) and the local community to ensure a successful delivery of the program.

Main works are now underway and construction is expected to be completed in June 2024.

When the expansion and upgrade works are complete, the hospital’s capacity will be expanded to provide a greater range of services including medical imaging and pathology services, a pharmacy and a separate reception and waiting area.

These additional services will operate alongside the existing day surgery, chemotherapy and dialysis services available on site.

The upgrade of Sunbury Day Hospital is one of 10 small public hospitals being built across Victoria as part of the $675 million Community Hospitals Program

The facility will help take pressure off nearby major hospitals, including Sunshine Hospital and the Northern Hospital in Epping, and is expected to be complete in June 2024.
