Welcome to your latest Transition News

As winter ramps up, it is a timely reminder to stay warm and safe. For those who are yet to do so, I urge you to go and get your flu shot this year, as it is mandatory for most of us and make sure you all take some time when not at work to rest and recharge.
As always, there is lots of activity, both clinical and non-clinical in nature happening in transition land, which you can read about in this edition.
We were thrilled to hear that following conversation with Victorian Hospital Building Authority and The Department of Health an additional and much needed $3.75 million has been allocated to expand and upgrade Grant Lodge. This is on top of funds previously allocated and will enable us to provide private bedrooms and bathrooms and to improve facilities that are better suited to the needs of all of our residents.
We are fast approaching a significant milestone as we edge closer to 12 months together as ‘One Western Health’. Thank you for all that you have contributed to so far and for your ongoing commitment to provide Best Care to our community and to support your colleagues.
We are also reaching another big milestone where we sadly say farewell to Suellen Bruce, who has been with us for nine remarkable years. Sue demonstrates dedication in everything she leads, but I have observed in her role as Executive Sponsor of the Transition she has been particularly passionate and committed. Whilst we will miss Sue immensely, I am quite confident she is happy to be moving to some warmer weather up north as she starts her retirement. We are also saying farewell to Sandy Schutte in her role as the General Manager at Bacchus Marsh & Melton; however she is not going too far and I warmly welcome her into her new role as acting Executive Director – People, Culture and Communications.
Thank you to all of you for your hard work, commitment and support.

Kind regards,
Russell

Farewell to Suellen

As many may be aware, Suellen Bruce is retiring this Friday after working at Western Health for the last nine years and in public health for the past 43 years!

Suellen our Executive Sponsor for the Transition for the past 12 months has consistently demonstrated her passion and commitment for delivering Best Care for our community.

I have experienced a wide range of opportunities throughout my career and I am so grateful this important piece of work is one that I have had the pleasure to end my professional journey on. To be able to work collaboratively, explore opportunities and align services to provide best care for our community is both incredibly important and rewarding.” – Suellen Bruce

Sandy Schutte, who has a great understanding of Bacchus Marsh, Melton and Caroline Springs will be taking the reigns as our new Executive Director, People, Culture and Communications.  Congratulations on your new role Sandy!

We wish Suellen all the very best as she packs her sunglasses, some zinc cream and heads north to Queensland!

Wonderful dedication to the health services and community

Heather Linsdell has contributed not only to the health services but her community for 60 years, volunteering at varying levels within the Bacchus Marsh Ladies Auxiliary as well as on the board. We were very honoured to have Heather visit the Bacchus Marsh Hospital Ladies Auxiliary Meeting in early June, where we presented her with a gift and a certificate, commemorating this remarkable milestone. Yvonne Spargo, a Bacchus Marsh Hospital Ladies Auxiliary member, also gave Heather some beautiful orchids grown from her garden, as seen in the photo.
