Western Health staff will be moved by the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Turkey and Syria following the devastating earthquakes and loss of life in both countries earlier this week.

Some staff maybe directly impacted by these events while others will be involved in local community efforts to collect goods which can be shipped to the affected areas.

Our thoughts are with these staff and we appreciate their efforts to support their loved-ones at this distressing time.

Please take the time to support any colleagues you know who may be affected by this tragedy.

Staff wishing to contribute should consider using existing established charities.

There are a range of reputable national and international organisations calling for support so they can deliver support on the ground.

The Australian Red Cross has established an appeal for funds to assist earthquake victims. Donations can be made via this link:

Other international aid agencies involved in appeals include the United Nations Children’s Fund, better known as UNICEF, OXFAM, CARE, Doctors Without Borders and the Save the Children.

The Employee Assistance Program is available to any staff you may wish to use the service.
