It’s National Volunteer Week and we were thrilled to celebrate our wonderful volunteers at the annual thank you lunch this week.

Our volunteers play an important and valued role in supporting patients, staff and visitors in many and varied activities across Western Health, and we are so appreciative of their contributions.

From knitting and supporting the Auxiliary and Opportunity Shops, guiding patients and visitors around our sites, and driving patients to appointments, to name but a few of their many hats, our volunteers add so much to the spirit of Western Health. It has been wonderful to see many of our volunteers return to our sites over the past year, often being the first friendly face on arrival for patients, visitors and staff alike.

It was a great pleasure to present 41 volunteers with service awards at the thank you lunch, recognising their milestones, including an incredible 25 years of volunteering for Leslie Mather and 45 years for Yvonne Spargo.

From everyone at Western Health, we extend a big thank you to each and every volunteer for the time, energy and commitment they dedicate so generously to our staff, patients and our communities.

This week, please give a special ‘hello’ and a big thank you to our volunteers – those within our hospital walls and the many others that contribute in the community and through donations of their time and talents.

To find out more about our diverse and interesting volunteer roles, visit the Volunteer and Community Engagement webpage. We are currently welcoming interest from community members to maintain our strong volunteer program as Western Health continues to grow.

Happy National Volunteer Week!

Yvonne Spargo accepts her 45-year service award from CEO Russell Harrison and Executive Director Strategy and Planning.

Leslie Mather was recognised for 25 years volunteering at the annual thank you lunch for Western Health volunteers.
