With the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the community, Western Health is introducing a vaccine booster program for eligible staff and volunteers.

As part of the West Gate Tunnel project, there are a raft of roadworks planned over January to March. 

These may impact staff travelling to and from our sites and include roadworks on the West Gate Freeway, M80/Western Ring Road Interchange and the Princes Freeway.

The roadworks will take place from Wednesday 10 January to March 2024.

Face-to-face area warden training is now available through WeLearn for individuals to book.

If you haven’t completed this training in the past year and wish to act as an Area Warden in your Ward/Unit, please come along to one of our seminars. If you haven’t acted in the role before but wish to, please speak to your manager first.

If you feel your unit needs individualised area warden training, please reach out to the Emergency Management Team (Lee Bradford or Peter Hayes) to arrange.

Other training sessions will be made available across all campuses and facilities at a later date.

This year Western Health is participating in the Health + Wellbeing Equality Index (HWEI) Employee Survey.

This is a national survey run by Pride in Health + Wellbeing and covers a number of areas related to diversity, inclusion, exclusion and culture, with a particular focus on inclusion of LGBTQ clients.

This is only one area of our diversity and inclusion work, and while the survey focuses specifically on LGBTQ inclusion, it does not by any means lessen our focus in other areas of diversity practice.

The survey data enables our organisation to gain insights into the knowledge levels and experiences of all our employees.

It will also provide us with essential information about many areas specific to LGBTQ-inclusive service provision, allowing us to develop inclusion plans and initiatives which prioritise the needs of our LGBTQ clients and their allies.

It provides a means by which you can have your say.

Regardless of how you personally identify, or your role within the organisation, we encourage all our employees to participate in this survey.

Every year on the first Sunday of February, Melbourne comes together to celebrate and support the LGBTIQA+ community for Pride March.

The march occurs annually as part of Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival and it is an opportunity for members of the LGBTIQA+ community, allies, friends, family and supporters to come together to celebrate gender and sexuality diversity.

Western Health is proud to support our LGBTIQA+ community and participate in Melbourne’s Pride March.

We encourage all members of the LGBTIQA+ community, allies, friends, family and supporters to participate in the 2024 Pride March.

Join the Midsumma Pride March to march with those who can, and in solidarity for those who cannot.
