Supporting team-based models

An educational package has been released to support our nursing and midwifery teams to able to have confidence in implemented team-based models. Whilst we are implementing team-based models to support COVID surge, there is lots of evidence to support the use these models at all times. Enhancing teamwork can support equitable workload distribution, staff satisfaction and enhance patient care.

The package describes:

  • Team-based nursing and midwifery models
  • Utilise the principles of supervision and delegation in working with the team model of nursing and midwifery
  • Deliver care to the patients using the team-based models ensuring that all team members are practicing within their scope of practice

The package is available here and there are also Activity Lists to support decision making.

Allison Lamb, Sharon Collard and Rebecca Woltsche are supporting teams with the implementation and will be presenting to the nurse educators, Unit Managers, and Operations Managers about Team Based Nursing Models.

The information session are:

  • Education Teams on Monday 25 October
  • Operations Managers on Tuesday 26 October at 10:30am
  • Unit Managers on Tuesday 26 October at 3pm.

On Friday 29 October 29 there will be a Tool Box Talk and Tips and Tricks Session for Unit Managers and their teams prior to Go-Live on Monday 1 November 2021.

Thereafter, every Friday there will be a Tool Box talk until the model is running smoothly in each area.
