To deliver several major projects that Digital Health and Digital Technology Services are currently involved in, Western Health is implementing a temporary digital change freeze.

This freeze is vital to ensure the Digital Health and Digital Technology teams can maintain their focus on the successful delivery of:

• EMR Phase 2.1 Go-Live
• Capital Projects including New Footscray Hospital, Melton Hospital, Point Cook and Sunbury Community Hospitals
• Mental Health Service transition
• Bacchus Marsh, Melton and Caroline Springs service transition
• Cybersecurity initiatives

Implementing this freeze will allow Western Health to:

• minimise the risk to current digital infrastructure and workflows
• allow stabilisation between major projects
• ensure continued normal operating activities
• reduce change impact on all WH staff

The digital change freeze is effective immediately and will remain in effect until December 2023.

How does this impact you?
During the change freeze, Executive approval will be required for the following:
• new digital projects
• tenders requiring digital technology involvement,
• non-essential system upgrades,
• high volume hardware purchase requests
• changes that involve new solutions, EMR change and Cybersecurity.

Digital Health and Digital Technology Services cannot make exemptions to this freeze. If you have questions about the digital freeze and any associated impacts, please discuss this with your Manager.

Please be assured that in the event of a service issue, the Digital Health and Digital Technology Services divisions will continue to resolve issues and assist with Service Desk queries as normal.

Thank you for your support.
