On 13 March 2024 the Infectious Diseases admission screening form and combined COVID-19 screening form will be updated and released on EMR.
This update aims to simplify and enhance the infectious diseases screening process and improve efficiency in identifying new patients at various entry points who may be colonised or infected with Carbapenemase-Producing Organsims (CPO) and implementing necessary contact precautions.
The changes include:
- Documentation of Received healthcare in the last 12 months in any of the following settings will be mandatory
- High CPO risk alert will automatically be added if Yes is selected to either of the following questions:
- Received healthcare in Australia within the past 12 months
- Received oversea healthcare within past 12 months
- COVID-19 Suspected alert will automatically be cancelled with a resulted negative PCR
Please familiarise yourself with the updated form and ensure its correct use in patient assessments. Your diligence in completing screening for every patient admitted is vital to our infection prevention efforts and the safety of our patients.
