The medication safety drug library for Alaris PC Intravenous Infusion Pumps has been revised to incorporate several medication changes with medical, nursing and pharmacy consultation.

The new dataset, Western Health v5-8, will be released via the wireless network for all WH sites (except for Bacchus Marsh and Melton sites) on Thursday, 29th of June 2023 (at 8am).

An infusion pump must be turned on for the dataset to be downloaded via the wireless network. You will need to allow 2-3 minutes for the new dataset to be downloaded.

Once the dataset has been downloaded (Wi-Fi light will stop flashing), switch the pump off.

The new dataset will be activated when the pump is next switched on and the user selects NEW patient.

Please ensure that all pumps in storage have the dataset activated via the above method and that the new dataset Western Health v5-8 is visible on pumps, before using it for any new patients. Your ward pharmacist can assist if required.

Please be aware of the need to use dataset version 5-8 when using these pumps on Thursday, 29th of June 2023 (at 8am).

This update of the drug library includes:

  • Cefazolin – initial infusion time decreased to align with procedures and guidelines.
  • Neonatal and Paediatric: Midazolam – combining therapies for neonates and adding new therapies for paediatric. New dexamethasone and clonidine entry for neonates.
  • Sodium Nitroprusside – new entry in the cardiac profile for pulmonary arterial hypertension vasodilator challenge.
  • IV Amoxicillin/Clavulanate – new entry for all profiles.
  • Blood products – new entry of Privigen AU, Kiovig 10%, Octagam 10%, Gamunex 10%.
