Western Health is undertaking a project in collaboration with Safer Care Victoria, ANMF and two other health services to co-design and implement employee-centric rostering for our nurses and midwives. The project’s primary objective is to promote and enhance flexibility in the workplace by establishing guidelines that support employee-centred rostering.

Western Health has a number of pilot wards covering both our midwives and nurses. Over the past few months, the project has been underway. We have conducted surveys with the nurses and midwives on the pilot wards to gather information on their experiences in the evolving work environment. 79% of our nurses and midwives in those pilot areas completed the survey! The survey specifically focused on flexibility concerning work arrangements, shift allocation, night duty rostering, and the significance of professional development.

Now we want to hear from you!

To validate the data collected from the initial Safer Care Victoria project, we plan to expand the project to include the rest of Western Health’s nurses and midwives. This broader approach will enable us to gather more insights from staff who will benefit directly from the project. Additionally, since the project is a co-design, involving collaboration with our staff in drafting the guidelines, extending it to a larger scale will facilitate validating the collected information.

The survey will be open for two weeks and is scheduled to conclude on the 26 May 2023. To access the survey, click on the provided link or use your smartphone to scan the QR code (pictured right), which redirects you to the survey.
