The Allied Health Clinical Governance Framework consists of five main components:

  1. Credentialing and Defining the Scope of Practice
  2. Clinical Supervision
  3. Continuing Professional Development
  4. Clinical Governance Audits
  5. Annual Performance Planning

1. Credentialing and Defining the Scope of Clinical Practice

Allied Health have an established procedure which outlines the process for Credentialing and Defining the Scope of Clinical Practice for Allied Health and Care Coordination (AH & CC) workforce.  The procedure aims to:

  • Ensure that AH & CC workforce who have responsibility for independent patient care and treatment are appropriately credentialed
  • Establish a system of professional development and supervision to ensure that safe and effective patient care is delivered
  • Ensure advanced practitioner roles have a defined scope of clinical practice in accordance with the individual practitioner’s level of skill, experience and the position’s requirements.

2. Clinical Supervision

4. Clinical Governance Audits

The AH & CC Documentation Audit Procedure details:

  • The importance of high standard, uniform and comprehensive documentation
  • The established minimum standards for documentation audits for the AH & CC workforce

In addition to the documentation audit, regular audits are completed to monitor clinical handover, and clinical portfolio compliance.

5. Annual Performance Planning

AH & CC staff abide by the Western Health Performance and Development Management Procedure. AH & CC have developed a toolkit of documents to facilitated the Annual Performance Appraisal process. All staff working in AH & CC are required to utilise this documentation.
