Julie Spencer

Julie Spencer is our Director of Nursing & Midwifery for Custodial Health at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre.

Julie is well known at Western Health and commenced in this role in July 2024. Julie was the Unit Manager at Sunshine Hospital for the Short Stay Unit (SSU) and was integral in the conception and set up of the satellite SSU at the beginning of the COVID pandemic.

Julie is a self-motivated and progressive leader with an extensive background in nursing, having worked in clinical, education and management roles across acute and emergency settings. In her time at Damn Phyllis Frost Centre, Julie has led initiatives focused on the improvement of patient centred care, staff wellbeing and quality improvements.

Julie has successfully completed a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice at Melbourne University in 2019 and was awarded Western Health Nurse of the Year in 2022. She is passionate about the nursing profession and has a strong commitment to high quality patient centered care, innovation, and staff development.
