Western Health is implementing a new program to support nurses and midwives with the early recognition and escalation of patient deterioration.

All Western Health nurses and midwives are invited to take part in a study which aims to evaluate the knowledge and cultural barriers for nurses and midwives in recognising and escalating patient deterioration at Western Health.

What are we asking you to do?

Using REDCap, we will ask you to complete a survey on three occasions: baseline, 6-months and 12-months. Data to be collected will include demographic information, attitudes and perceptions of patient deterioration and the Rapid Response System. This is a short survey which should take 10 minutes to complete.

We do not anticipate any risks associated with your participation, which is entirely voluntary.

What will happen to the results?

The results of this project will inform the education program “Don’t Wait 2 Escalate”. Findings will be presented as grouped data at academic conferences and informal organisational forums (e.g., Research Week). Data may also be published in peer-reviewed academic journals.
