On Friday 20 February 2026 we proudly recognise and celebrate Mental Health Nurses’ Day — an important opportunity to acknowledge the extraordinary contribution our mental health nurses make every single day.

Mental health nurses are at the frontline of care, providing compassionate, person-centred, and evidence-based support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, as well as to their families and carers. Their work requires clinical expertise, empathy, resilience, and unwavering dedication.

This day is not only about appreciation, but also about recognising the vital role mental health nursing plays within our healthcare system and across our communities. Your commitment to improving outcomes, advocating for patients, and promoting recovery and wellbeing makes a profound difference in the lives of so many Australians.

We thank you for your professionalism, your strength, and your compassion. You inspire confidence, hope, and healing in the people you care for, and you continue to shape the future of mental health care.

Please join me in celebrating and thanking our incredible mental health nurses.
