Welcome to your latest Transition News

Hello and welcome to your latest Transition News.

I hope you all enjoyed marking the milestone of our first year together as One Western Health with a delicious cupcake.  It was great to read such positive media coverage in recognition of this important occasion.  I particularly enjoyed seeing Colson Millson return to help us celebrate as he was born on the very first day of our amalgamation and watch him celebrate his birthday with a very colourful cake!

For me, and I hope many others, it was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how far we have come together in just one short year and I look forward to us continuing this work together to provide Best Care for our community.

We had a very positive response to our recent ‘acknowledge a colleague’ initiative.

With 80 nominations received and 13 of those staff nominated more than once – it is clear to see just how much staff value one another in what is a tough environment.  Reward and recognition of our colleagues is always important, but very relevant as staff continue to go above and beyond during another challenging winter period.

A reminder for all staff regarding the flu vaccine and 4th Covid booster.  Please chat with the Infection Prevention team for further information to help you protect yourself, colleagues, patients and loved ones.

Kind Regards,

Russell

Make a Colleague’s Day Initiative

Thank you to all staff who made the time to nominate a colleague who makes their day!

Small gifts are being distributed to nominated staff in the coming weeks.

Services and Programs

Merlin Go-Live at Bacchus Marsh and Melton

In an exciting step in the Bacchus Marsh and Melton transition, we’ve recently seen the successful rollout of the Merlin pharmacy application to the Bacchus Marsh and Melton pharmacies which now integrates all of Western Health pharmacies to the one application.

The transition for these two pharmacies, from using iPharmacy to Merlin, involved upgrading existing infrastructure – including a WiFi upgrade, laptop and printer installations – and training and support in using the new system.

Thank-you to everyone involved in helping for such a smooth transition; the project lead Ashleigh Neagle, the Clinical Transition Project Manager Grace Crowe, the Bacchus Marsh and Melton pharmacy teams, the broader Western Health Pharmacy Department, and the Digital Health and Digital Technology Services teams.

We look forward to more great work continuing in the Transition of clinical applications.

Adult First Responder Trolley

Adult First Responder trolleys were rolled out at Bacchus Marsh Hospital on Wednesday 13th July.

With two new trolleys located in the Medical/Surgical and Maternity wards. These trolleys will allow clinical staff to access immediate basic life support equipment and initiate treatment to respond to the deteriorating adult patient.

Urgent Care staff will continue to bring the code blue trolley which contains more advanced equipment and medications.

Stay tuned- Melton Health and Melton Community health sites will be receiving First Responder trolleys in coming weeks.

What's New?

Grant Lodge

Grant Lodge has had a huge make-over in the dining room, after the installation of the mural’s, we now have a fresh coat of paint and new furniture creating a lighter and more contemporary atmosphere for the residents to enjoy their meals and activities.

Melton Health

Installation of the new flooring in the Melton Health Blue module is complete. The works took place over four weekends and focused on specific areas each weekend to reduce the impact of client care in Renal Dialysis. The new timber look vinyl, selected by staff and patients, gives more warmth to the space where patients visit regularly and spend hours at a time and is also stain resistant and easy to clean.

Thank you to all the staff for their patience’s and understanding while these works were underway.

What's Next?

Melton Site name and Signage

The Melton site will be renamed “Melton Community Services and Health Hub” to ensure it has a name that represents the services onsite. We are now able to begin with signage, the yellow building will be named Melton Community Services and the green building renamed to Melton Health Hub.

The verandah between both buildings will have the signage “Melton Community Services and Health Hub”, which links both buildings but allows each to have its own identity.

Please note: below are mock-ups only

Western Health Remote Access

BMM will merge its remote access with the current Western Health process and system and moving out of the Grampians Rural Health Alliance (GRHA) remote service. The new remote access will be more secure and simpler to use.
