Today is International Nurses Day, a day to recognise and celebrate our nurses for all the incredible work they do at Western Health, and in our community.
This year’s theme is A Voice to Lead: Our Nurses. Our Future – a theme that is very relevant as we grow as an organisation and embrace opportunities to expand on our provision of Best Care in the west.
To our nurses – every day you do amazing, life-changing work in our wards, theatres and procedural departments, clinics and ambulatory services, in our @home care programs, in our emergency and urgent care departments, our intensive and high dependency care units, residential aged care, education, consultancy and research, advanced practice and leadership roles. On behalf of Western Health I offer my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for all that you do.

Today, we honour and celebrate our nurses and midwives at an event in the Sunshine Hospital Auditorium from 2:00pm – 3:00pm. During this event, I will be launching Western Health’s new Nursing & Midwifery Professional Practice Framework and I will also be joined by Adjunct Professor Tanya Farrell, our new Director of Maternity Services who will deliver a keynote address.

Award-winning nurse-comedian Georgie Carroll will finish things off with a great laugh. Georgie has written 7 solo nationally sold-out stand up shows, and is a familiar face on Australian TV.

The auditorium is now at capacity but you can join us virtually via Live Stream.

There will also be delicious catering in the Atrium after the event.

Kind regards,

Adjunct Professor Shane Crowe
Executive Director Nursing & Midwifery
