The benefits of immersing yourself in the natural world is well known, whether it’s strolling through a city park, gardening, or hiking in the bush, exposure to nature has been linked to lower stress and improved mood.

Now, there is evidence that looking at images of nature itself could help settle a person’s nerves.

Today we’d like to share with you some images from a team of trekkers, many of whom are fellow staff members, who embarked on an epic mental and physical challenge to support cancer patients in Melbourne’s west.

The team walked the Larapinta Trail. Situated just outside of Alice Springs, it traverses the ridgelines of the West MacDonnell Ranges from east to west and is considered one of the world’s best long-distance arid-zone walks.

If you have a photograph that inspires you, or have found a way to unwind that you think you would like to share with your colleagues, consider sharing it in our virtual tea room.

Find out how you can support the team, who have raised $63,000 for the Western Health Foundation, here.
