A quick update from me today regarding a reminder to use QR codes in tearooms, density quotients, and new weekly surveillance testing for long-stay patients.

Tearoom QR code check in reminder

Tearooms continue to be our biggest risk area for staff-to-staff COVID transmission so it’s vital that staff continue to use QR codes to check in before removing PPE to eat and drink. The check-ins help our Infection Prevention Team with contact tracing where necessary.

Density quotients related to clinical care meetings

There have been a number of enquiries about physical distancing requirements and room density quotients. Room density quotients do not apply for meetings relating to direct clinical care, such as handover, where all participants are wearing N95 masks and eye protection at all times and where eating and drinking is not permitted. Where possible please maintain 1.5m physical distancing.

Weekly surveillance testing for long-stay patients

Based on recent patterns of exposures within our health service, we are now introducing weekly surveillance rapid antigen testing for long-stay patients for early identification of exposures and any new cases. This weekly testing is in addition to the surveillance testing required each day for the first 72 hours after admission. Refer to the updated QRG here for details.
